Upon Arrival - Tanzania Visa Requirement
Be prepared to show your passport and explain your visa status when entering or departing Zanzibar or when traveling around the mainland. Visitors who enter on visas must present a roundtrip ticket and demonstrate they have sufficient funds for their stay.
Tanzania e-Visa Requirements
- Copy inter passport (bio page, valid at least 6 months);
- A clear Front face photo as passport face photo size.
- Proof of Accommodation;
- Return ticket of the flight (not mandatory);
- Yellow Fever Vaccination.
Tanzania Single Visa Validity
This Visa is issued for a single entry to a visitor for a period not exceeding three months for the purpose of holidays, visiting, leisure, health treatment, studies or any other activity legally recognized by the Law.
Tanzania Multiple Visa Validity
The Tanzania Multiple Visa Validity This evisa may be issued to foreign visitors who come for Official visits, Government Missions, family re-union or any other circumstances as may be determined by the Office of the Commissioner General of Immigration, which call for frequent visits to the United Repubpc of Tanzania. These are like Directors of Companies registered in Tanzania who do not reside in the country, Spouse or member of a family (Family re-union), Bilateral Agreement Representatives, Private or Government Consultants, etc.
This Tanzania Multiple Visa is also issued to American citizens who wish to come for Holiday or Tourism purposes, as they are not entitled to Ordinary Visa. Tanzania Multiple Visa maximum validity of this Visa is 12 months. However, the holder of the Tanzania multiple Visa cannot stay in the country for twelve (12) consecutive months. They are required to leave the country at most every three months. American nationals, they are required apply for this type of Visa Tanzania visa. American nationals who wish to visit Tanzania for tourism or holiday purposes, they are required apply for this type of Visa.
Quarantine requirements
If you test positive for COVID-19 on arrival, you may be asked to quarantine in a government designated hotel, at your own expense if you are visiting Tanzania. If you are a returning resident then you will be asked to self-isolate for 14 days. You should comply with any additional screening measures put in place by the authorities.
Yellow fever vaccination
Yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for all travelers arriving from, or having transited through, countries where yellow fever is endemic. Direct arrivals from non-endemic countries, including all countries in Europe and North America, are usually not required to show a yellow fever vaccination certificate. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provides additional information about recommended vaccines and medications for travelers going to Tanzania. The CDC notes there are reports that unless a traveler has a medical exemption letter from a physician, some immigration officials require evidence of the vaccine for entry in Tanzania – particularly entry via Zanzibar – from all travelers. Travelers with neither the shot nor an exemption letter are usually allowed entry and directed to a health officer to obtain the vaccine. The CDC recommends that travelers staying for an extended time or those who will be heavily exposed to mosquitoes consider obtaining the vaccination before visiting Tanzania..
Currency Restrictions
Tanzania Currency Restrictions: Travelers are required to declare international currency valuing more than $10,000 on both entrance and exit from Tanzania. Non-residents (except Kenyans and Ugandans) may not import or export Tanzanian Shillings (TZS.)
Entry rules in response to coronavirus (COVID-19)Testing/screening on arrival All passengers arriving in Tanzania will be required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate upon arrival. The test should be taken within 96 hours of arrival in Tanzania. All passengers travelling to Tanzania must complete an online Traveller’s Surveillance Form. This form must be submitted no more than 24 hours before arrival.
All passengers entering Tanzania will be subjected to enhanced screening for COVID-19 including a mandatory rapid test. The cost for rapid testing is 10 USD per traveller for arrivals in mainland Tanzania and 25 USD for arrivals in Zanzibar. The fee can be paid for through the online Traveller Surveillance Form or in cash on arrival. Children 5 years and under are exempt from both pre-departure PCR tests and rapid tests on arrival. The Government of Tanzania is also implementing temperature scanning for all international passengers arriving into Tanzania.
